Earlier in the year, when we started seeing a reoccurring pattern of gaffes and word vomit being produced by now-Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden, requests were made that the former vice president is subjected to a cognitive test. After all, we, the people, deserve to know if the man we might vote to put in the White is mentally fit enough to perform his duties.
Naturally, Biden agreed that he would do so. However, mere months later, after it was evident that his state of mind was only getting worse, the would-be president suddenly changed his mind. He stated that he would not take such a test and couldn’t understand why he should.
The same thing happened a few weeks ago about taking a drug test after it was suggested that some sort of drug intake might be causing some of Biden’s rather erratic behavior. But again, just a few weeks later, he and his campaign have reneged on that promise.
And now, we see another instance of Biden or at least his campaign reversing previous statements or promises they have made.
This time it has to do with the much-anticipated debates and the possible use of an earpiece.
Throughout the recent summer months, while on the road and at home, it has become fairly common knowledge that Biden is usually fed his lines via a teleprompter. In fact, he even uses this to stay on track in what are supposed to be impromptu moments, such as interviews.
But even more recently, it has been found out that Biden also utilizes an earpiece on a great many occasions, so that his staff can keep him in check and on task. No doubt to cover up or limit his never-ending blunders.
However, as you would assume, neither a teleprompter nor an earpiece will be or at least should be, allowed during the presidential debates, of which the first one took place on Tuesday night. The nation and her people need to see what each candidate can do on their own, what their own ideas are, and how they handle the pressure of the debates, as that pressure will only increase once in the Oval Office.
Therefore, it is no surprise that Trump asked Biden to submit to an ear inspection right before going on stage for the debate. And just like before, Biden said he would do so. After all, it only seems fair.
But also, just like before, he and his campaign changed their minds at the very last minute, refusing anyone to check and see if Biden had an earpiece in while debating President Trump.
Just hours before the debate was set to begin on Tuesday, New York Post reporter Ebony Bowden tweeted that Biden refused to let his ears be checked.
“NEW: Joe Biden’s campaign agreed to inspection for electronic earpieces at tonight’s debate several days ago but are now declining, a source familiar tells me.”
Just a few moments later, Trump’s campaign communications director Tim Murtaugh commented that he could confirm that report, adding, “Joe Biden’s handlers several days ago agreed to a pre-debate inspection for electronic earpieces but today abruptly reversed themselves and declined.”
Of course, he also noted that Biden’s campaign had also asked for several “breaks during the debate,” which lasted about 90 minutes with no commercial breaks.
“On top of the refusal to take a drug test, it seems pretty obvious that the Biden team is looking for any safety net they can find in the hours leading up to the debate. With his 47 years as a failed Washington politician, how much help does Biden want?”
Apparently, as much as he can get.
Naturally, Biden’s team, namely his communications director Kate Bedingfield didn’t like these claims and made one up of her own.
She noted that two could play that game and tried to assert that Trump had asked debate moderator Chris Wallace to not mention the amount of dead in the US due to COVID-19.
I’m sorry, but how does one talk about COVID-19 and our response to it without mentioning that? I don’t think Trump’s team is stupid enough to ask for something so absurd.
Asking for an inspection on a guy who is known to use earpieces, on the other hand, seems only natural.
And just to let you know, Biden’s team still has not been willing to confirm or deny that an ear inspection was even suggested. All they can say is, “This is so ridiculous. This is absolutely ridiculous.”
