GOP Candidate Gets Kicked Off “The View”

Every time members of the GOP or Republican candidates appear on shows like “The View,” I have to admit I get a little nervous.

Mostly, this is due to the fact that they are hardly ever given respect and fair treatment, given that they are surrounded by female co-hosts who are quite liberal. However, due to my typically optimistic outlook on life, I hope every time that things will go differently.

Well, this past week’s appearance of black GOP congressional candidate Kim Klacik of Baltimore was different, alright. But don’t think for a second that it was good different.

Not only was Klacik basically beaten with a verbal stick, but she was actually kicked off the show, cut off mid-sentence, and hung up on.

If Klacik’s name sounds familiar to you, it’s probably due to the fact that she sent shockwaves through the political world earlier this year in one of her campaign ads.

As a candidate seeking to represent Baltimore, Maryland, in Congress, it wasn’t at all surprising that she would bring up the current condition of the city. After all, as Baltimore has been known to be in pretty dire straights for a while now, just about any candidate, regardless of party, would want to mention how they could change the city’s fate.

What was surprising was the way in which she did it.

Instead of simply mentioning the problems Baltimore is dealing with and reasoning how she would go about righting those, she took the camera with her on a walk through the city’s more dilapidated areas, showing the audience what the “Democrats don’t want you to see.” And she boldly placed every bit of the blame for those conditions on Democratic leaders.

Naturally, this kind of move caught the attention of nearly everyone interested in politics, hence her invitation to join “The View.”

You would have thought her ad would have made it clear to liberals, like most of the show’s hosts, that Klacik isn’t really one take much of anything lying down. Then again, “The View” hosts aren’t exactly known for their intellectual minds, are they?

Things didn’t take all that long before they got a bit heated, or should I say when one host got offended and blew her top.

It all started when Klacik was asked about Trump’s interview with Washington Post Associate Editor Bob Woodward, where Trump supposedly admitted that he had downplayed the COVID pandemic. Klacik was asked whether that could have disproportionately affected black communities.

Klacik responded not by blaming Trump, of whom she strongly supports but by saying that the pandemic as a whole, undoubtedly would affect many black communities more and gave Baltimore as an example.

She said, “If you look at cities like Baltimore, you have things called a food desert. And this is where you are sitting there and they don’t have grocery stores. They don’t have what they need around them in their neighborhoods. So yeah, I believe a coronavirus pandemic would affect us more.”

Co-host Joy Behar, apparently, wasn’t satisfied with her response, though, as it didn’t blame anything on Trump.

Behar responded, “Come on, Kim. Excuse me; I have to say something to you. He told Bob Woodward that it was a very serious issue, and it’s airborne and that it was terrible, and then he went out and told the American people, ‘Don’t wear masks. It’s all going to go away.’ You have to put some blame on your president. I’m sorry. You’re putting it on something extraneous.”

It’s here that things got really interesting, as Klacik pointed out that Behar, of all people, probably didn’t have any room to be asking questions about how something affects black people, especially given that Behar had dressed in blackface years prior for a party.

She said, “Is this Joy speaking? The same Joy that paraded around in blackface not too long ago? Come on, Joy – I don’t think you should be asking questions.”

Naturally, Blackface Joy didn’t take to kindly to this and immediately got defensive and hostile, as did her co-host Sunny Hostin.

Joy claimed that her blackface was, well, not blackface and that it was her attempt at paying “homage” to that race. She even stated that the “black community had my back.”

And when Klacik tried to respond to this, both Hostin and Behar simply screamed over her before finally saying, “Kim, good luck to you. Thanks to Kim Klacik. Bye,” and then hung up.

As Klacik says, it was rather immature. If anyone had a right to be angry, it was the black woman listening to a white woman who refuses to take responsibility for wearing blackface. And yet, because Klacik is conservative, she’s in the wrong. Go figure…
