When Kamala Harris gave her first speech since being selected as Joe Biden’s running mate, no one knew what to expect. Would she draw on her experience as an attorney general and harshly condemn the attacks that are taking place in our nation’s liberal cities? What she said may have surprised some of us but we were not stunned in the least.
“The President’s mismanagement of the pandemic has plunged us into the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. And we’re experiencing a moral reckoning with racism and historic injustice that has brought a new coalition of conscience to the streets of our country demanding change. America is crying out for leadership,” said Harris.
You heard it here first, folks. Harris believes that the looters and rioters who are terrorizing the streets of America are actually a coalition of conscience. We knew that she would be doing whatever she could to distance herself from her past but she’s laying it on a bit thick at the moment.
Harris has to convince people that she is not going to revert to form once she and Biden are given the chance to run the country. We can’t lie, there are plenty of leftists who are looking to take her to task and they are not going to be easy to fool. However, the more moderate leftist types are happy with the decision.
They knew that Biden was never going to pick someone like Bernie and he needed to send out the flare signal to the moderates in the meantime. Biden was obviously worried that the centrists who are a big part of his base would be reticent to vote for him if he drifted too far to the left. This is why he made sure to avoid a running mate that would sound too many alarm bells.
The leftists who thought that he was going to choose someone like Bernie Sanders were deluding themselves this whole time. The same goes for anyone who thought that Elizabeth Warren was going to be the choice. Warren sure did try her best to torch her own principles to appeal to Biden. We were cackling when she completely backtracked on Medicare For All within a relatively short period of time.
The same goes for Stacey Abrams. She did everything short of wearing a big sash that read “PICK ME” in huge letters. In the end, he was always going to live up to his promise to choose a female running mate and it was always going to be an African-American. Since that protocol was pretty clearly established early on, the choice should have been predictable.
He was never going to get Michelle Obama to run alongside him and Barack has already pulled all of the necessary strings to get Sleepy Joe into position. Kamala Harris is the next best thing under the current circumstances. Biden’s the one who wants everyone to know just how down he is and now he can crow to Charlamagne da God about keeping his promise.
This is the same candidate who was willing to check black voters who are ready to vote for Trump. He’s going to have a lot of explaining to do once it comes time for a debate. Trump and Pence will have all sorts of lies and half truths to poke through. How are Biden and Harris going to survive under this type of scrutiny? If we know Biden like we know Biden, the stuttering and stammering will be hilarious.
The race is on in earnest now and there are only a few months left. While it remains to be seen if we are able to have normal conventions and debates, the Republicans are definitely going to be pushing for these sorts of events. They are their best chance at exposing these two charlatans for who they actually are, instead of who they are pretending to be.
